The Vienna Online Journal on International Constitutional Law is a quarterly published eJournal bringing articles on recent developments in international constitutional law from researchers, scholars and other professionals. The idea to publish a quarterly eJournal was developed in the context of the
New International Constitutional Law Approach Summer School - NICLAS The summer school’s main target is to analyse the EU´s Area of Freedom, Security and Justice from an International Constitutional Law perspective, primarily focusing on the aspects of democracy, human rights and the rule of law. International Constitutional Law as legal discipline combines constitutional law, public international law, European law and legal theory. The Online Journal will serve as a publishing platform for the scientific results of this Summer School.
Besides putting the spotlight on constitutional developments in other countries and on supra- and international levels, the Vienna Online Journal on International Constitutional Law serves as a window on Austrian Constitutional Law to the English speaking world and has thus the task of facilitating the inclusion of Austrian constitutional law in international legal studies. Since regular reports about Austrian constitutional legislation and jurisprudence are not available in foreign languages, the ICL-Journal shall fill this gap by reporting about constitutional developments in Austria. Every issue contains summaries of recent and important decisions of the Austrian Constitutional Court, which may be commented upon. Cornerstone judgements shall be translated in full length. Besides that, articles on recent constitutional developments in Austria from a legislative and political point of view shall help to broaden and deepen the knowledge and information about contemporary Austrian constitutional law
With its book reviews the Online Journal offers an insight into interesting titles in the field of international constitutional law and publications on Austrian public law in English.
The Vienna Online Journal on International Constitutional Law is edited by a dynamic team of Austrian researchers. Its Scientific Advisory Board is composed of leading professors and lawyers in the field of constitutional law in Austria.
